“He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways,” wrote Bliss and their bandmate, Rollo Armstrong, in a Facebook post. “He gave our music proper meaning and message. He was also a lovely human being with time for everyone and profound yet approachable wisdom. Working with him was an honour and, of course, a true pleasure.”

He was also described as “a brilliant lyricist, a DJ, a Buddhist, a magnificent stage presence, car lover, endless talker, beautiful person, moral compass, and genius” in their statement.

Faithless was known for songs like “Insomnia” from 1995 and “We Come 1” from 2001. Jazz led the band from 1995 to 2011, when it disbanded, and again from 2015 to 2016. He later formed his band, Maxi Jazz & The E-Type Boys.

Jazz was born in London on June 14, 1957. He began as a British pirate radio DJ and the creator of The Soul Food Café System.

He later co-founded Faithless with Armstrong, Bliss, and Jamie Cotto.
